New Renault Duster 2025 – Rugged Design, Bahubali Engine & Premium Features for the Indian Market

The 2025 Duster is expected to drop its old diesel engines and embrace petrol and hybrid powertrains. One option is a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system, producing about 130 hp. Another is a stronger hybrid setup using a 1.6-litre petrol engine along with electric motors and a battery pack, delivering improved fuel efficiency. In some markets, there will also be a petrol-LPG option. Lower trims likely get a manual gearbox while higher or hybrid trims may get automatic transmissions. Some versions might offer an all-wheel-drive (AWD) configuration, especially with mild hybrid turbo petrol + rear electric motor setups for improved grip.

Dimensions & Ground Clearance

The new Duster is built on the CMF-B modular platform, which gives it a more modern architecture and the ability to offer more space. It is approximately 4.34 metres long, similar to its predecessor in length, but with more squared-off design cues. Ground clearance in some AWD variants is around 217 mm, making it suitable for rougher roads. The wheel-arches are more pronounced, body cladding is larger, and the stance has been made more rugged.

Exterior Design

Design has taken inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept. The front has sharp Y-shaped LED daytime running lights (DRLs) which blend into the grille. The grille is newer and more bold, often with blacked-out or chrome elements depending on trim. The bumpers are reshaped, bonnet more muscular, and the side profile features squared wheel arches, roof rails, and contrast panels. At the rear, you’ll find Y-shaped LED tail lamps and a sporty roof spoiler. Alloy wheels will be in 17- or 18-inch sizes depending on variant.

Interior & Features

Inside, the 2025 Duster becomes much more premium. It features a two-tone dashboard with softer touch materials, a centre console angled towards the driver, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital driver display (instrument cluster), optional wireless charging pad, and a six-speaker Arkamys 3D sound system in higher trims. Features like automatic climate control, power windows, electric mirrors, and possibly ventilated seats (in top trims) are expected. Safety and driver aids include multiple airbags, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, traffic sign recognition, etc.

Variants & Expected Price in India

Renault plans to launch the new Duster in India around the second half of 2025, though there are reports that it might be delayed till early 2026. Pricing is expected to begin in the region of ₹10 lakh (ex-showroom) for base or mild-hybrid trims, with higher trims (hybrid, ADAS, AWD) possibly going up to ₹15-17 lakh depending on features. There will be multiple variants, likely including a petrol turbo base, a mild hybrid, a strong hybrid, and possibly AWD versions. A 7-seater version (Bigster) is expected later.

Safety & Off-Road / Driving Aids

The 2025 Duster is expected to come with six airbags as standard, electronic stability control, tyre pressure monitoring, and possibly a suite of ADAS features such as automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, traffic sign recognition. For the versions with AWD, there may be terrain modes like Snow, Mud/Sand, Off-road and Eco, along with hill-descent control, approach/departure/ramp break-over angles improving in specifications, and possibly front and rear sensors plus a 360-degree camera in higher trims.
